Imagine going out on holidays and falling sick. At times a new place just does not suit you. It is, therefore, important to take precautions to avoid falling ill while you are travelling.
Preventive steps while travelling:
- Carry your daily medicines if any in your luggage. Also carry a kit of the basic emergency medicines such as those for an upset stomach, vomiting, diarrhoea and fever. Also, keep some band-aids, antiseptic ointments and so on with you.
- Ask your doctor whether you should change your dosage according to eating or sleeping times at your new destination.
- Only consume food that is served hot and has been fully cooked. Avoid
buying street food. Stick to eating fruits that you can peel. For other fruits,
wash them well before eating them. Likewise, try to drink bottled or boiled
water. .
- While traveling during the summer
always drink plenty of water. Protect yourself from the heat by covering your
head with a scarf or cap. Wear sunglasses and use sunscreen to guard against
the harmful rays of the sun. Avoid going outdoors in the afternoons.
