Mahatma Gandhi, always a very busy man, spared a few minutes everyday for nearly two years (November 20, 1944 to October 10, 1946) to write down “A Thought for the Day” – initially to console a bereaved Ashramite, Shri Anand T. Hingorani – who later compiled them in the shape of this volume. These thoughts are facsimile reproduction of Gandhiji’s own hand writing, its transliteration in Hindi type and its transliteration in English.
The incidents described and the sentiments expressed by Bapu in this compilation will surely succeed in mitigating the mental anguish of the ordinary mortals. |
