National AIDS Control Programme: This month we focus on the National AIDS Control Programme, which had been introduced by the government to combat the spread of HIV/AIDS. As there is no known scientific cure for this health condition, it is vital that people be made aware of prevention strategies. Today, there are many HIV positive people who continue living their lives with courage, perseverance and hope. They have an equal right to work and live a dignified life, for which they need the protection and support of society. Citizens need to lead by example and empower others by informing them about HIV/AIDS. |

Corporate Governance: Today, the implementation of good Corporate Governance practices has surfaced as an essential element in the business world. We have recently introduced a new 'Corporate Governance' module in the 'Business' section of our Portal to increase awareness among new entrepreneurs about this key business need. Basically, Corporate Governance is the use of a suitable management and control arrangement for a company. It includes rules that govern the power relationships between owners, management, employees, suppliers, customers and society. This section on 'Corporate Governance' provides information on the organizational and legal framework as well as the benefits and limitations of Corporate Governance. It also provides information on Corporate Governance guidelines and principles at the international level. |

Id-Ul-Zuha
Meaning the 'Festival of Sacrifice', Id-ul Zuha commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son at God's command. On this day, Muslims all over the country sacrifice an animal to show their faith to Allah.
Christmas
This festival marks the birth of Lord Jesus of Nazareth. It is celebrated by Christians with Midnight Mass, nativity scenes and distribution of traditional sweets. People also light up Christmas trees, big paper stars and lamps and await the arrival of free gifts from Santa Claus.
