| Independence Day, 2011 marked 64 glorious years of existence for an independent India. A day of celebration, a day when we rejoice in our freedom and pay homage to those who laid down their lives winning it for us - August 15th is a day every Indian holds dearest to his/her heart.
The occassion was celebrated with ardent devotion and immense patriotism throughout the country. Honorable President Shrimati Pratibha Devisingh Patil delivered the 'Address to the Nation' on the eve of Independence Day. This was followed by the unfurling of the tricolour from the Red Fort in Delhi the next day by the honorable Prime Minister of India, Dr Manmohan Singh.
Amid festivity all around, azure skies were seen dotted with countless vibrant kites as patriotic Indians all over gathered on rooftops and in fields to celebrate the occasion in their own special way by indulging in Kite Flying.
