india.gov.in brings the essentials of the highly anticipated recommendations. We bring you the Highlights of the Sixth Pay Commission, Report of the Sixth Central Pay Commission and an Annex to the Report of the Sixth Central Pay Commission.

The National Portal india.gov.in has been associated with the Sixth Central Pay Commission from the very outset, disseminating crucial updates from the Commission regularly through the Portal.

In November 2006, the Portal india.gov.in team made a humble attempt to facilitate receiving online responses from Individuals and Groups to the Questionnaire on the different topics prepared by the Commission through designing an exclusive Decision Support System on the National Portal. Participation included members of the public, peoples' representatives, consumer associations, staff associations, State/UT Governments, Ministries/Departments and many others. All were welcome for their suggestions and comments.

The Commission held a series of meetings from time to time with officers, unions and associations in various States and UTs which were placed for information in the public domain through the Portal.

Intensive studies were conducted by three premier institutes on a range of issues from the parameters of performance related incentives to cost to Government (C2G) and terminal benefits. IIM Ahmadabad carried out studies on Formulating the Concept, Principles and Parameters for Performance-Related Incentives (PRI) in Government. Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI), Jamshedpur went into depth on Estimating the Compensation Package for Government Employees and the Cost to Government. Institute for Social and Economic Change, Bangalore analysed the Terminal Benefits of the Central Government Employees. You can read all these studies in detail though india.gov.in

With this, india.gov.in once again emerges as an effective medium for public participation - upholding the true spirit of e-democracy.
