Spotlight
In Memory of Bapu: This month we celebrate the birthday of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, the Father of our Nation. Mahatma Gandhi is known globally not only as a great freedom fighter but also as a champion of social causes. This time around, the Spotlight takes a look at Gandhiji's activities as a social reformer for the emancipation of the underprivileged. We list Gandhi's 'Seven Social Sins' and look at how he used his philosophy of Satyagraha and non violence not only as a political tool to gain freedom but also as an instrument of social reform.

In today's world, torn up by strife and sectarian violence, Satyagraha holds vital significance. We examine how we all need to practice Gandhiji's teachings so that the benefits of development accrue to all sections of society.
Commonwealth Games - Baton Relay: The curtain to the Commonwealth Games is set to be lifted later this month with the Queen's Baton Relay, which will be held at a grand cultural ceremony in Great Britain. This event is one of the great traditions of the game and involves the Queen of Britain handing over a specially designed baton to the first honorary relay runner. This Spotlight informs you about the history and traditions of the Commonwealth Games as well as provides you with details about the sports events scheduled to be held during its duration.

As the sportspersons of our country get ready to give us their best performances ever, we wish them success and cheer them on in their journey.

Business: The business section has been updated with two new segments on Limited Liability Partnerships and Direct Tax Code. Limited Liability Partnerships (LLPs) are a new corporate structure that merges the flexibility of a partnership and the merits of limited liability of a company at a low compliance cost. The Direct Taxes Code aims to promote voluntary tax compliance and an increase in the tax - Gross Domestic Product (GDP) ratio by combining and amending the law relating to all direct taxes, namely, income-tax, dividend distribution tax, fringe benefit tax and wealth-tax. Browse through these sections to modernize your business according to changing Government policies and make it more dynamic and profitable.

Overseas: India is emerging as a major hub for tourism as well as business, attracting thousands of foreign citizens every year. Recently, two new modules have been added to the 'Overseas' section - 'Important Information for Foreigners' and 'FAQ's on Visa Extension'. The former segment has details about entry procedure for international visitors such as visa requirements, Temporary Landing Permit (TLP), immigration check requirements, registration requirements, general instructions and a list of frequently asked questions. The other segment lists the answers to some common queries regarding visa extension like overstaying, change of visa categories, expiry of extension period, penalties and much more.
