Policy for grant of licence for Global Mobile Personal Communication by Satellite (GMPCS) service in terms of NTP-1999 was announced on 2 November 2001.

Detailed information about these services is available on the websites of the department. As on date, there is no licensee to provide this service in India. The Licence fee, which is in the form of revenue share, is 10 per cent of the adjusted gross revenue and entry fee is 1 crore.
