After dismissing Zimbabwe for 154, with left-arm spinner Anukul Roy picking up 4/20, openers Shubman Gill and Harvik Desai chased down the target in 21.4 overs and ensured India went to quarterfinal undefeated.
On a bright and sunny day, Zimbabwe captain Liam Roche no hesitation to bat first after winning the toss but as it turned out, their batsmen found the Indian bowling line-up, once again led by the fast bowling duo ShivamMavi and KamleshNagarkoti, tough to overcomes.
The scoring rate always remained a concern for Zimbabwe. Three of their batsmen - Wesley Madhavere, Milton Shumba and captain Roche - got into the 30s but none could capitalise.
Every time a partnership looked like getting threatening, the Indian bowlers struck. Zimbabwe batsmen seemed clueless against left-arm spinners Anukul Roy who picked up 4 wickets, and Abhishek Sharma and folded up for 154 in 48.1 overs. They were 110 for three at one stage but lost their last seven wickets for 44 runs.
India tried a new opening combination in Shubman Gill and Harvik Desai and the move worked wonders. Desai played the perfect second-fiddle role while Gill motored along.
In all three games, India have lost just seven wickets and have taken all 30 in the tournament so far, which bodes well for the Rahul Dravid-coached side ahead of the knockouts.
Gill and Desai remained unbeaten on 90 and 56 respectively as the former finished the match in style with a boundary down the ground. This was Gill's second half-century of the tournament, an effort for which he was named Man of the Match.

Modi govt is making several efforts aimed at doubling the income of the farmers by 2022. In a significant move in this direction, the Government is soon coming out with agri-export policy to promote the export of food products. It is often noted that farmers have to bear heavy losses owing to fall in prices due to abundant produce. The agri export policy aims to minimize such losses along with taking concrete steps to boost exports of the agricultural yield. A platform had been provided by the centre to entrepreneurs in Greater Noida to encourage investment in food processing sector and encourage exports of agri products.
Union Commerce Minister Suresh Prabhu said that the Modi Government is moving ahead in the direction of doubling the income of farmers.
Due to dearth of effective food processing techniques available to the farmers , agricultural produce worth crores of rupees fritters away every year. Packaging of agricultural produce is done on a very small scale as compared to other countries. Therefore, the scope of increasing the exports still exists.
PM Modi has repeatedly laid emphasis on the need for innovations in the food processing sector which in turn would benefit the farmers.
Major international players are exploring options of investment in the Indian food processing sector.
Rapid development in the sector will not only ensure minimal wastage of agricultural produce but also provide employment opportunities apart from enhancing the income of the farmers.

The bus was traveling along a road in the remote Aktobe region that links the Russian city of Samara to Shymkent, a city in southern Kazakhstan close to the Uzbek border.
The bus was traveling from southern Kazakhstan to Russia’s Kazan, Kazakh officials said. The route is widely used to transport Uzbek workers to and from Russia where they often take work on building sites.
Only five people managed to escape the burning vehicle, the interior ministry’s emergencies department said in a statement.

A photograph posted online from the site showed the bus completely burnt out. Video footage also posted on the Web showed it positioned diagonally across a two-lane freeway in the middle of a snow-covered steppe, in flames and emitting heavy black smoke.
Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry said in a statement its embassy staff were en route to the area, roughly midway between the Russian border and the Aral Sea.

Microwave ovens across Europe alone emit as much carbon dioxide as nearly seven million cars, a study has found. Researchers from the University of Manchester in the UK have carried out the first-ever comprehensive study of the environmental impacts of microwaves, considering their whole life cycle, from 'cradle to grave'.
The study found that microwaves emit 7.7 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent per year in the European Union (EU). This is equivalent to the annual emissions of 6.8 million cars. Microwaves across the EU consume an estimated 9.4 terawatts per hour (TWh) of electricity every year. This is equivalent to the annual electricity generated by three large gas power plants. Microwaves account for the largest percentage of sales of all type of ovens in the European Union (EU), with numbers set to reach nearly 135 million by 2020.
Despite this, the scale of their impacts on the environment was not known until now. The study used life cycle assessment (LCA) to estimate the impacts of microwaves, taking into account their manufacture, use and end-of-life waste management. Altogether, the research team investigated 12 different environmental factors, including climate change, depletion of natural resources and ecological toxicity.
They found, for example, that the microwaves used across the EU emit 7.7 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent per year. This is equivalent to the annual emission of 6.8 million cars. The research shows that the main environmental 'hotspots' are materials used to manufacture the microwaves, the manufacturing process and end-of-life waste management. For example, the manufacturing process alone contributes more than 20 percent to depletion of natural resources and to climate change.
However, it is electricity consumption by microwaves that have the biggest impact on the environment, taking into account its whole life cycle, from the production of fuels to generation of electricity. In total, microwaves across the EU consume an estimated 9.4 terawatts per hour of electricity every year.
This is equivalent to the annual electricity generation by three large gas power plants. The study found that, on average, an individual microwave uses 573-kilowatt-hour of electricity over its lifetime of eight years. That is equivalent to the electricity consumed by a seven watt LED light bulb, left on continuously for almost nine years.

Mohan Jogi, a resident of Kotadbury in Champa is a keen horticulturist who always dreamt of innovation in horticulture. Inspired by an idea from the Internet he began implementing a method to grow plants without soil. Plants are planted through plastic pipes and disposals. The pipe is cut from the top in a radius of 3-4 inches.
After this, coconut filings are planted in them .Teacher Mohan Jogi roof displays this new method in detaill. The plastic pipes contain water circuits attached to a motor and there is a plastic container of 2 hundred liters. Once this is filled with 2 hundred liters of water, it is usable for 5-6 days. If plants are planted initially, then it takes only 5-6 days to grow.
Apart from cultivation without soil, fruits that grow in low lying areas can also be planted by this method. To keep these plants alive, only water is needed. Some special types of chemicals are also added in the water, so that oxygen and water remain in balance and the plants not only survive, but also grow faster.
Mohan Jogi's effors are also remarkable in this regard as he did not seek help from anyone to adopt this technique in horticulture. Having made the entire system on his own and even failing twice, his passion for gardening did not stop. All that he needs now is for his method to be broadcast widely so that it can be used by those who really need it.

The panel, headed by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and comprising representatives of all states, at its 25th meeting today decided to reduce tax rate on 29 items and 54 categories of services with effect from January 25.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, Jaitley said the next meeting of the Council may consider bringing items like crude oil, natural gas, petrol, diesel, ATF and real estate within the GST purview.
In a bid to ease compliance burden, the Council veered around to the idea of registered entities continuing to file the return in GSTR 3B Form while moving to a system where supplier invoice captures details of the transaction.
The new process would be finalised in the next meeting of the GST Council after a written formulation is circulated to the states, he said.
The date of the next meeting of the Council has not yet been decided, he said.
Jaitley said the GST provision requiring transporters to carry an electronic waybill or e-way bill, when moving goods of over Rs 50,000 in value between states, will be implemented from February 1 to check rampant tax evasion.
As many as 15 states have decided to implement the provision for intra-state movements as well, he said.
After implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) from July 1, the requirement of carrying e-way bill was postponed pending IT network readiness.
Once the e-way bill system is implemented, tax avoidance will become extremely difficult as the government will have details of all goods above the value of Rs 50,000 moved and can spot the mismatch if either the supplier or the purchaser does not file tax returns.
- E-way bill system testing continues till January 25, loading will be made must from Feb 1.
- 15 states agree on intra-state e-way bill.
- Decision on petroleum products deferred.
- No decision on real-estate, will be taken up in next meet.
- 29 Handicraft items have been put in 0% slab. GST rates have also been reduced in few agricultural products.
- The GST Council also discussed how buyers should upload purchases invoices, and the sellers should upload sale invoices.
- Collection under composite scheme only Rs 307 crore.
- The fitment committee will fix the rates for about 40 handicraft items.
- A few more items may be added to the list.
- Rs 35,000 crore of Integrated GST will be provisionally divided between the Centre and states.

The minister said that it is primarily the personal indulgence, intervention and patronage provided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi which has made space technology an essential part of Modi’s “Transforming India” mission, which will finally culminate in the building of “New India”. It was at the behest of Prime Minister that perhaps, the first-of-its-kind, extended brain-storming interaction was held between space scientists and the representatives of different Ministries and Departments in Government of India, in order to understand the areas where space technology could be put into use.
In the last 3 years, Singh said, the Team ISRO and the Department of Space have finalised effective MoUs with a host of Ministries, including Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Urban Development, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare etc. Space Technology today is playing a crucial role in carrying forward a number of flagship programmes of the Modi Government, including Smart City programme, Urban and Housing schemes, guarding of unmanned railway crossings, Geo-tagging of MNREGA, procurement of Utilization Certificates of roads and other projects, agricultural soil testing, he added.

The last year set some world records like launching of 104 satellites in a single go, launching of South Asia satellite and completion of 3 years of Mangalyaan in the orbit, he added.
Referring to the Geospatial World Forum meet, currently being held, Singh said, this event highlights India’s intent of expanding its space programmes for wider application and with wider participation of other partners as well. The presence of representatives and CEOs of some of the leading industrial houses of the world, he said, signifies the keen desire of the world industrial players to collaborate with India to benefit as well as to supplement the applications of space technology for the common goal of the future growth of a global world.
