Month of August, which is also known as Shravan Maas, marks the beginning of the festive season in India. It spreads a spirit of festivity, patriotism and brotherhood in our country. August is also highly significant for us as we celebrate our Independence Day in this month with kites making the sky colourful and the National Flag on every rooftop giving us a sense of pride for being a sovereign nation. It gives us an opportunity to remember everybody who fought hard for this freedom.
Other popular festivals also fall in this month are 'Raksha Bandhan' - a festival that celebrates the pure bond of love between brother and sister, 'Eid-ul-Fitr' - that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting or Roza and Janmashtami which is celebrated for the birth of Lord Krishna on this day.
