Web Ratna Awards 2012: The stage is all set to acknowledge the exemplary initiatives in the realm of e-governance for the dissemination of diverse information and services to the citizens. The second season of Web Ratna Awards 2012 will be held on 10th December 2012 at Dr. D.S Kothari Auditorium, DRDO Bhawan, Dalhousie Road, New Delhi from 11.30 am to 1.30 pm. Revamp of National Portal of India: For the last 7 years the National Portal of India has been serving the needs of citizens as a single window access to information and services provided by the Indian Government. To make this more user friendly, we have revamped the site with a new information architecture, look and feel and improved discoverability of information and services. The launch of this site is scheduled on December 10, 2012 by the Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology Shri Kapil Sibal.

You can send your queries related to the content, design, service or technological issues related to the revamped site.

Writing for the Web is totally different to writing for print. Following should be considered while writing content for the web:

  • Use simple language
  • Consistent nomenclature
  • Put the most important point or the conclusion first
  • Limit each paragraph to one idea
  • Use descriptive text for hyperlinks
  • Use left-aligned text
  • Use list for easy reading
  • Pagination for larger block of text
  • Make the content accessible to all visitors
  • Emphasize important words/terms
