Teacher's Day - a day to honour the contribution made by teachers to the country and the society is also celebrated on September 05 - the birthday of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the second President of India.

Tourism is one of the significant instruments for economic growth and employment generation in the country. India's performance in tourism sector showed a remarkable progress in the past three years. In 2012, the number of foreign tourist visits increased to 207.31 lakh and Foreign Exchange Earnings (FEEs) from tourism reached Rs. 94, 487 crores.

In this growth figure the Tourist Visa on Arrival (TVOA) Scheme has played a significant role. The Government of India has introduced this Scheme for the nationals of eleven countries, namely, Japan, Singapore, Philippines, Finland, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar and Indonesia.

Guidelines

Web Information Manager (WIM)
A Government Department can initiate steps towards Guidelines for Indian Government Websites (GIGW) compliance by designating a Web Information Manager (WIM), at the level of Joint Secretary, who has final accountability for the department's website. A WIM is responsible for approving all policies & plans to:

  • policies such as copyright, hyperlinking, privacy, etc
  • effectively manage the website's content, as required by GIGW: content moderation, review, and archival
  • effectively monitor the website and handle any contingencies
  • ensure effective promotion of the department's website
