The Government has approved the transfer of powers for according Investment Clearance to major, medium irrigation, extension, Renovation & Modernisation (ERM) of Projects Flood Control and Multi-purpose projects from erstwhile Planning Commission to the Ministry of Water Resources River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation accordingly.

The existing provisions of the guidelines have been further revised. This supersedes all previous operational guidelines issued in connection with PMKSY- Ground Water Irrigation by MoWR, RD & GR.

In supersession of the previous guidelines issued by this Ministry dated 13th July 2005, the Union Government have decided to allow, with immediate effect: Facsimile editions, in whole or in part(s), of foreign newspapers, by Indian entities, with or without foreign investment, and also by foreign companies owning the original newspaper, provided they get incorporated and registered in India under the Companies Act, 1956.

The Union Government has decided to allow publication of Indian editions of foreign magazines publishing news and comments on public news i.e., periodicals falling in the news and current affairs category, by Indian entity, with or without foreign investment.

Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is the nodal Ministry for formulation of policies on foreign investment in the Broadcasting, Film, Print and Advertising Sectors. It examines proposals for foreign investment and frames guidelines keeping in view the national interest.
