The Punjab Education Development Act, 1998 was amended in the year 2007 to establish Adarsh schools in the State of Punjab. The Punjab Education Development Board was established in January, 2008, with the objective to establish Adarsh Schools in the State, to provide free and quality education to the poor and needy students.
