The Forest Rights Act (FRA), 2006 recognizes the rights of the forest dwelling tribal communities and other traditional forest dwellers to forest resources, on which these communities were dependent for a variety of needs, including livelihood, habitation and other socio-cultural needs.

Ministry of Tribal Affairs is fully committed to the smooth and effective implementation of the Direct Benefits Transfer (DBT). DBT aims to bring transparency, eliminate misuse of funds and enable enhanced monitoring of the Schemes implemented by the Government of India. In DBT, benefit or subsidy will be directly transferred to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. Public Finance Management System (PFMS) acts as the common Platform for DBT. All State Governments/ UTs shall upload data regarding DBT Transactions on the portal for every month by the 4th day of the next month.

The data will be recorded in four segments - Demographic profile, Livelihood, Skill mapping and Migration Pattern. The National Tribal Research Portal facilitates the Tribal Research Institute (TRIs), Centre of Excellence (CoEs) & Research Institutes recognised by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs ,Government of India to submit their Sanctioned Project Details under various Schemes of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs ,Government of India.
