The Sanskrit Academy Department is a newly set-up Department of Govt. of NCT of Delhi. The Language Department is carved out of Education Department and was set up in September 1999. Aims & Objectives Propagation, promotion and development of languages, literature art and culture as an integral part of composite culture of Union Territory of Delhi.. These activities are carried out through Sahitya Kala Parishad and Language Academies viz. Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, Sanskrit and Sindhi which are autonomous bodies.

The mission of Department is to act as a facilitator, in consultation with Government of India, Departments of Delhi Government, its Autonomous Bodies and Undertakings etc. to improve Government functioning through administrative reforms in the spheres of restructuring the Government, process improvement, organization & methods, grievance handling, modernization, citizen's charters, award scheme and best practices.
