The division is equipped with the state-of-art technologies and expertise to carry out all types of analytical works related to forensic biology. The biological analysis includes detection and establishment of any biological fluids like blood, semen, saliva, urine, sweat, milk, hair, fibre, tissue and botanical exhibits . Further, the laboratory has been upgrading to carryout accurate microscopic examinations. In addition to the above the DNA Profiling Laboratory is being operated under the supervision of Biology Division.

The work in the Ballistics Divison involves the identification and comparison of Firearms, ammunation and parts therof. The work also includes examination of target materials. The exhibits include standard small arms and ammunation of various make and calibre, homemade/improvised firearms and ammunition, bullets, pellets, wads, propellant, cartridge cases and the appliances used for the manufacture of firearm ammunition.

The laboratory conducts interactive meetings with the Judiciary & Investigation Officers for the improvement of Forensic Science. Such interactive meetings provide a platform for discussing emerging forensic techniques/fields and also to evaluate the forensic services rendered by the laboratory.

Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL), Hyderabad undertakes the scientific examination of sensitive physical evidences recovered from scene of crime to assist law enforcement and other crime investigation agencies.

The Cases being forwarded to CFSL Hyderabad should invariable accompany the a no. of documents/compliance of procedures. The crime case exhibits should accompany duly filled in forwarding note of Central Forensic Science Laboratory, Hyderabad (Can be downloaded from Downloads Section) and Forwarding note to be signed by The Judicial officer/Superintendent of Police & above/Competent authority of Central & State Govt. Organisations and many more.
