The Department of Food Supplies, U.T. Chandigarh was established in November 1966 pursuant to the reorganization of the states of Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh. At the time of its very inception, the Department was catering to the needs of thousands of cardholders with the strength of barely a few employees.
