Hingoli district in Maharashtra is the largest producer of turmeric in the state. The district has a huge area used for turmeric cultivation and produces an average of over a lakh metric tonnes of spice every year. The district and the nearby regions produce a significant chunk of the ‘Selam’ variety of turmeric which is highly popular.
