The population is a blend of indigenous Garo tribe (A'we) which is the most dominant tribe in the region, along with other minor tribes such as Rabhas, Boros, etc. The term A’we signifies one of the many sub-tribes among the Garos that originally inhabits the northern parts of Garo Hills.
