The Pradhan Mantri JI-VAN Yojana (Jaiv Indhan - Vatavaran Anukool Fasal Awashesh Nivaran Yojana) was launched by the Government of India to promote bioethanol production using lignocellulosic biomass and other renewable feedstocks. This initiative aims to encourage the development of second-generation (2G) ethanol, which is derived from agricultural waste, thereby reducing environmental pollution and providing an alternative to fossil fuels.
