Established under the aegis of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Education, the Vidyalaya started in the old building, which earlier inside the CME campus in the year September 1982.

Kendriya Vidyalaya OCF came into existence in 1985 in the Defence sector with Ordnance Clothing Factory Avadi as the sponsoring agency. The Vidyalaya has a building with an imposing structure inaugurated in October 1995.

Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan is an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Education. Ever since its inception in 1965, it has been the endeavor of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan to pursue excellence and set pace in the field of school education.

A unit of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, K. V. Utarlai was introduced in the vicinity of desert city BARMER in 1982 to serve the needs of society, specially defence, since its inception. Due to its unique contribution in the field of education the vidyalaya was given the status of 'Model School' by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan in the year 1999.

Kendriya Vidyalaya, Gill Nagar was started on 28th of June 1965. It was housed at 24, Royapettah High Road initially on rent. It began with four classes of the secondary section (class VI to VIII).

Kendriya Vidyalaya, CRPF, Avadi was started in 1978 under Civil Sector. Fifteen acres of land has been provided by CRPF.

The school was established in 1985. From its inception, the school has just one mission - to mould students to become future citizens, who are useful to themselves, to their families, to the society, to the nation and to humanity itself.
