The Department of Archaeology was set up in the year 1978 under Government of NCT of Delhi, with a vision to protect, conserve and develop the lesser-known monuments of Delhi, other than those protected and maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India; and promote them as major tourist spots. The Department of Archaeology is a pioneering entity for protection, preservation, restoration and management of these monuments and sites.
