Telangana is blessed with rich livestock resource especially cattle and sheep population accounting for 5.5% of countries cattle and sheep population. Around 2.9 million families depend on livestock sector for their livelihood and Livestock sector is emerging as one of the most potential and income generating sector for rural and semi urban areas. The mandate of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries department is to increase the availability of animal origin food like milk, meat, fish and eggs for human consumption through scientific breeding, feeding and disease management.
