Kendriya Vidyalaya IIT Kharagpur began its academic flight as an institute of higher learning sector Vidyalaya in 1968. Since its inception this citadel has not only expanded and flourished in various spheres of education but has also established its merit and name in the region and the nation in the fields of academic results, literary activities, games and sports.

The government has approved a new scheme named SHRESHTA (Residential Education for Students in High Schools in Targeted Areas) for the purpose of providing seats for the meritorious SC boys and girls in the best private residential schools in the country. Every year, it is expected that about (3000) students would be selected for admission in Class 9 and Class 11 under the scheme.

Kendriya Vidyalaya Dirang, West Kameng District is located in a very beautiful valley of Meyong river, 42 Kms. Away from Bomdila, District headquarters of West Kameng District, on the way to Tawang and 1.5 Kms. from the main Dirang town ship. Kendriya Vidyalaya Dirang was established in the year 2007 and became functional on 04 July 2007 in temporary building. Now our K.V Shifted in Permanent Building.
