Kendriya Vidyalaya Barrackpore (AFS) was established in the year 1964 under the head of Central School Organization. A small school run by the Air Force Organization was taken up and renamed as Central School with a strength of 300 students. Classes were conducted in a small building of Air Force on a land lease of 99 years.
