Kendriya Vidyalaya INS, Kalinga was established in the year 1989 to cater to the needs of the wards of the defense personnel servicing in INS KALINGA and the elite naval commandos, MARCOS. The first Chairman was Cmde. VVN Rao.

Kendriya Vidyalaya Zakhama is a prestigious educational institute of Zakhama in Nagaland. It is situated 16 kms from Kohima, the state capital of Nagaland. This is a centre of excellence which was first established in 1988 as a Defence sector school affiliated to CBSE. It is situated in Zakhama Military Station with classes I to Class XII(Science).

Kendriya Vidyalaya, (Hindi for Central School) is a system of Central government schools for children of employees of India's central government. The system came into being in 1965 and has been affiliated to CBSE since then. Initially called Central School, it was started mainly to cater to the children of people in the defence services who were often posted to remote places.
