Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1 Kalaikunda was established in the year 1967 primarily to cater to the need of education for the children of defence persons. The Vidyalaya is situated at a distance of 16 kms from Kharagpur railway station. At present 1700 students are studying from classes I to XII. The scheme of pre-primary education has been taken up from the session 2002-2003.
