Kendriya Vidyalaya No.2 was established on 22/07/1986. Initially it was a primary school with class I to V, every class had two sections. Mr. L. R. Patil was the first Principal RADM. R. V. Singh (AVSM) was the first Chairman of this Vidyalaya. The Vidyalaya grew over the years. The first batch of X class passed out from the school in year 1992.

As a part of the Malaviya Mission 111 institutions have been identified. These centres will be called as Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centres (MMTTC). Furthermore, the scheme is being designed to implement some of the recommendations and aims of the policy, which suggests some key changes to the current higher education system to revamp and reenergize it and thereby deliver high-quality higher education, with equity and inclusion.

The Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education is conducting various activities in schools for promoting the spirit of constitution values among students.

The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India (GOI) has established National Testing Agency (NTA) as an independent autonomous and self-sustained premier testing organization under Society Registration Act 1860 for conducting efficient, transparent and international standards tests in order to assess the competency of candidates for admissions to premier higher education institutions.

Kendriya Vidyalaya Vidyalaya Miao, Assam was established in the year 2012 under the aegis of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Education.

Kendriya Vidyalaya ONGC Dehradun holds high, the esteem and pride of being one of the premier institutes of Dehradun. The Vidyalaya Management Committee (VMC) manages the school at Local level and is headed by GGM(HCA) ,ONGC as its Chairman. The Principal holds the responsibility of the Executive Head of the Vidyalaya.
