The Vidyalaya came into existence in 1986 under the Ministry of Education. Initially It was started in the campus of famous Rani Shakti Temple and ran for about seven years there and then shifted to the present location-own building-in Sept.1992. It is running as civil sector school, two section school mainly to cater to the needs of wards of Military Personnel-serving or retired , a big number of which belongs to Jhunjhunu District.

Kendriya Vidyalaya AFS Borjhar, Guwahati was established in the year 1973 under the aegis of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Education.
