The idea of encouraging the growth of Secondary Schools with a common syllabus and medium of instruction for the benefit of the children of Central Government employees, including defence personnel liable to frequent transfers was first approved in November, 1962.

Kendriya Vidyalaya, Sevoke Road was started in the year 1981 in Salugara. Since then it has crossed many milestones and touched the pinnacles of success. The Vidyalaya has Classes from I to XII with Science, Commerce and Arts Streams. The Vidyalaya has maintained high academic standards in AISSE & AISSCE Examination.

The PGI-District is envisaged & developed after the triumph of PGI State with focused objective of assessing districts in six categories namely Outcomes, Effective Classroom Transaction (ECT), Infrastructure, Facilities, Student Entitlements (IF & SE), School Safety and Child Protection (SS &CP), Digital Learning (DL) and Governance Processes (GP) which are further expanded into 12 domains.

Kendriya Vidyalaya Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh was established in the year 2001 under the aegis of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Education.

Kendriya Vidyalaya O.F. Khamaria, Jabalpur was established in the year 1981 under the aegis of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Education.

Kendriya Vidyalaya CRPF, Yelahanka was established in the year 1981 under the aegis of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Education.

Kendriya Vidyalaya Dhule, Mumbai was established in the year 2007 under the aegis of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Education.
